walls, not least of which is the facility to build in a traditional way whilst still complying

The unique cell structure of Aircrete blocks makes them resistant to frost damage and sulfate
attack. It also forms a highly effective barrier to moisture penetration, making the blocks
ideal for use on external walls. Their excellent thermal performance minimises heat loss and
compares very favourably to other materials used for external walls, as does their compressive
strength. The thermally efficient characteristics inherent in every block help maintain insulation
across openings and also avoid cold-bridging effects when used as the cavity closer.
Lightweight and easy to handle (a typical 100mm block weighs approximately 1/3 of the 20Kg health
and safety guideline) Aircrete blocks can be easily cut and shaped with ordinary hand tools. This
makes them easy to fix, especially around doors and windows, enabling wall construction times to be
shortened significantly and costs to be reduced accordingly.
Within the available range of blocks are those for use in beam and block floors, foundations and
internal walls, plus Aircrete blocks offering good acoustic performance and great flexibility in
design. They are compatible with many types of weatherproof finish, such as render or tile hanging, and
are fully loadbearing, allowing joists to be supported directly on the walls themselves.
A versatile range of face sizes, thicknesses and strengths are available to match many different
applications.
