Recognising its responsibility to ensure safe practices are employed with
their products on building sites, the APA has produced an on-line Factsheet explaining
the safe use and handling of Aircrete products.
Aircrete already enjoys the reputation of being a simple and easy to use building product,
however, the Factsheet gives builders clear and concise guidelines for the safe handling and
storage of Aircrete blocks. It also gives advice on good practice for cutting and chasing the
blocks, as well as safe and effective use of cement.
The advice given follows the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, which outlines
the legal duties of care and methods of compliance, and supports the broad initiative aimed at
reducing the numbers of accidents and health problems occurring in the construction industry
each year.
Mike Flynn, Chairman of the APA Marketing Committee, commented: "The safe use of
building materials and the protection of those employed in various stages of construction is
an inclusive responsibility now shared by all parties. Aircrete is an inherently safe
building material, and indeed offers many health and safety advantages over the materials
it is able to replace."
