Aircrete Products Association produces an essential guide to weight watching.
With unsafe manual handling being responsible for a quarter of all accidents in the construction industry,
the Aircrete Products Association (APA) has produced a brochure which is dedicated to promoting the health
and safety benefits of using Aircrete products.
The brochure, highlights the fact that Aircrete is an extremely low density building material, making it easier,
quicker and safer to build with compared to heavier masonry materials.
Ian Exall, Chairman of the APA Marketing Committee, commented: "Even where there is no obvious accident, regular
lifting of heavy weights causes back problems and can result in workers having to leave their trade early.
"Aircrete is therefore becoming recognised as a safer alternative, as you can lift a 150mm Aircrete block with
just one hand while most bigger blocks fall within the 20kg HSE guidelines.
"In addition to the health and safety benefits, Aircrete is also an effective thermal insulator an efficient
sound absorber which is why it's fast becoming recognised as an all-round building solution."
