Given the Government's planning directive (PPG3) to increase
housing density in the UK, complying with new Part E sound insulation regulations has
never been higher on the agenda.
Builders of high-density housing developments, such as flats, can rest assured that
satisfying these latest regulations is simple if you specify Aircrete blocks.
The use of Robust Details E-FC3&4 and E-WM-6 & 7 provide an all Aircrete
solution for the separating of flanking walls of semi detached and terraced housing.
Similarly, Aircrete can be used for separating and flanking walls in flats and apartments
when used in conjunction with the new Robust Details for separating floors, E-FC-1, E-FC-3
and E-FC-4 and 5.
Ian Exall, Chairman of the Aircrete Products Association (APA) Marketing Committee
commented: "With an increase in housing density and with flats accounting for a greater
proportion of the market, sound insulation is becoming a much more important factor in
choosing a construction method. Having a number of Robust Details for Aircrete makes it
easier to specify for flats and apartments as well as houses.
"It also demonstrates what an excellent all-round building product Aircrete is. Not
only is it an effective sound insulator but it's a very efficient thermal insulator, it
offers a fast and easy method of laying foundations and, when used with the thin-Joint
system, it speeds the build process above ground significantly."
