A complete insulation solution is achievable using Aircrete blocks. Their
inherent thermal qualities provide a highly effective barrier against the penetration of
moisture and frost.
If used below the ground, Aircrete blocks can reduce heat loss by up
to 25% compared to other forms of construction. When combined with a suspended beam and
Aircrete block floor, they can achieve a possible 40% saving in floor U-values.
Building with Aircrete gives greater scope to build thermally efficient warm houses that exceed the
requirements of the current Building Regulations.

What is SAP 100?
| |
All new and converted dwellings have to be 'energy rated' using SAP (Standard Assessment
Procedure). Based on a scale of 1 - 100, with 100 being the most energy efficient, a SAP
rating looks at the thermal insulation of building fabric, the efficiency of heating systems,
ventilation and solar gain. The price of fuel for the chosen heating system is also taken
into account. It is a combination of these factors that enables the notional running cost
of any particular dwelling to be calculated using one of the Energy Rating Services available.
The individual members of the APA have attained the "Assessor" status and are
therefore qualified to award SAP ratings.
